[Return to Home]         Upfront Gallery - Contemporary Art Mission Statment Upfront Gallery, the City of Ventura's first contemporary art gallery, was founded in 2004 under the direction of Carolyn Friend and Paul Benavidez. Initially established to support and nurture a growing need for the presence of contemporary art and to promote its appreciation and intrinsic value to the community, Upfront Gallery has since evolved into the role of contemporary arts leader in Ventura, and has built a solid reputation of exhibiting quality fine art in an attractive, alternative, industrial space. The gallery is dedicated to exhibiting contemporary works of emerging and established California artists, exclusively.
